Be Seen

The Courage to Step Forward as the Entrepreneur You’re Becoming

jenn

April feels like a threshold. So I’m going to hold your hand while you read this article.

The days stretch longer. The flowers don’t ask if they’re ready to bloom they just do. There’s something about spring that feels personal. Like it’s saying, you to.

As entrepreneurs, we talk about strategy. Scaling. Marketing. Visibility. Growth.

But we rarely talk about the internal shift required to actually be seen.

To walk into a room and own it.

To post your face on social media without shrinking for fear of judgement.

To say yes to the keynote.

To launch the podcast.

To press record.

To share your voice unfiltered.

And underneath all of it the quiet fear:

What if I look stupid?

What if I forget what to say?

What if I’m not as polished as they expect?

What if someone judges me?

What if I’m embarrassed?

This month, I want to talk about stepping out.

Not just as a business owner but as the woman you are becoming.

The Fear No One Talks About

Let me say something that might surprise you.

This is something I struggle with too.

From the outside, people often assume confidence. They see the events. The magazine. The stage. The networking. The businesses. The leadership. They assume it must feel natural.

But the truth? Even when everyone sees you as confident, you can still wrestle with being seen.

You can still question yourself before you post.

You can still overthink your words before you speak.

You can still feel that tightness in your chest before walking into a room.

Confidence and insecurity can coexist.

Entrepreneurs are not immune to self-doubt or feeling scared just because we’re visible. In fact, sometimes the more visible you become, the more vulnerable you feel.

Visibility brings mirrors. It brings opinions. It brings attention.

And attention can feel terrifying.

Especially if somewhere in your story you learned that it was safer to be small.

Entrepreneurship doesn’t allow hiding forever. At some point, growth requires exposure.

And exposure feels raw.

Podcasting: The Most Intimate Form of Being Seen

There is something about podcasting that strips away performance.

You can’t hide behind a perfectly curated feed.

You can’t edit out every breath in real time.

You can’t over-filter your personality.

When you sit in front of a microphone, it’s just you and your voice.

And that can feel incredibly vulnerable.

When we launched the RISE podcast, I felt that familiar fear rise up again. The one that says:

What if I’m not articulate enough?

What if my thoughts aren’t profound enough?

What if people don’t resonate?

Even when you’ve built platforms. Even when you’ve spoken before. Even when people tell you you’re inspiring.

There is still that human part of you that wonders if you’re enough.

Podcasting taught me something powerful: your voice doesn’t have to be perfect to be impactful. It just has to be honest. (A good friend told me this as well)

Being heard is different than being seen on a stage but it requires the same courage.

And courage is built in repetition.

The more you speak, the more you step into the version of you who speaks naturally.

Embarrassment Is Not a Death Sentence

Let’s reframe something.

Embarrassment feels permanent when we’re inside it but it’s almost always temporary.

What lasts longer is regret.

The regret of not raising your hand.

The regret of not applying to speak.

The regret of staying silent when you had something to say.

What if you forget your words during a keynote?

What if your reel gets low engagement?

What if your podcast episode doesn’t perform how you hoped?

What if your business fails?

You will survive it.

And more importantly you will grow from it.

Audiences don’t connect with perfection. They connect with humanity.

The slight crack in your voice.

The laugh when you lose your place.

Not knowing what to do with your hands when you’re on camera.

The moment you admit you’re growing too.

That’s where trust is built.

Visibility Is Service

Here’s the shift that changes everything.

When visibility is about ego, it feels heavy.

When visibility is about service, it feels purposeful.

Your message is not just content.

Your podcast is not just a platform.

Your social media is not just marketing.

There is someone waiting for the version of you who speaks up.

The woman scrolling who needs your story.

The aspiring entrepreneur who needs to see someone step on stage imperfectly and still succeed.

The listener who hears your podcast while driving and feels less alone.

When you shrink, you withhold.

When you show up, you activate.

Being seen is not vanity. It is leadership.

Social Media Is a Mirror Not a Measure

The digital world can magnify insecurity.

It shows you numbers in real time. Likes. Shares. Comments. Downloads.

But numbers are data not identity.

Low engagement does not mean low impact.

High views do not equal deep transformation.

Your higher self doesn’t obsess over metrics. She focuses on consistency. She understands that momentum builds quietly before it builds publicly.

Every time you post while nervous.

Every time you record even when you overthink.

Every time you walk into a room even when you feel exposed.

You strengthen your visibility muscle.

And that muscle changes you.

The Room Changes When You Enter Fully

Have you ever felt someone’s energy shift a room?

Not because they were loud but because they were grounded.

That energy comes from alignment.

It comes from someone deciding: I will not shrink today.

Entrepreneurship requires this decision over and over again.

You don’t have to eliminate insecurity to lead.

You don’t have to feel fearless to speak.

You simply have to move while feeling.

The higher version of you isn’t fearless. She’s courageous.

There’s a difference.

Fearless means no fear.

Courage means fear exists and you go anyway.

Becoming Her

There is a version of you five years from now who looks back at this moment and smiles.

She’s grateful you pressed record.

She’s thankful you walked on stage.

She’s proud you showed your face.

She’s relieved you didn’t let embarrassment decide your future.

April is a season of becoming.

Nature doesn’t bloom because it feels fully secure. It blooms because it’s designed to.

So are you.

If you’ve been feeling the pull to speak more…

To show up more…

To launch the podcast…

To step into the spotlight…

Maybe that pull is your higher self calling you forward.

And if you feel insecure? Good.

That means you’re stretching.

This month, I invite you to do one thing that feels slightly uncomfortable.

Post the photo.

Say yes to the panel.

Introduce yourself first.

Pitch yourself as a speaker.

Record the episode.

You are not here to hide behind your brand.

You are the brand.
